T.n.[X].

The T.n.[X]. series consists of mostly duets with artists who have inspired and influenced me. I am proud to have them performing with me! Movement and text intertwine and overlap in T.n.[X.], creating connections or breaking them. The compositions are surprises and unique, not-predefined. They only fully reveal themselves to the performers on stage.

#2 The second duo collaboration in the T.n.[X]. series: T.n.I.: (Un)Expected (Ex)Change on 15/2/2025 with Izabela Pacewicz, in a double bill with Dom Shemesh4Bid GalleryOT301, Amsterdam.

T.n.I. aka T. Veneranta and Izabela Pacewicz, are touched by each others’ work and presence in unexplainable ways. Their performance is based on a physical dialogue between two bodies deeply interested in surprise, change, and transformation. Profoundly influenced and touched by each other, they work through embracing and holding. The intangible facets of their connection want to become tactile and vivid, shaping an entity larger than its parts.

They initially met at Katie Duck’s Music Theatre Improvisation workshop in 2019. Iza became also T.’s Chi Kung teacher 2020-2021 – what a transformative and deep experience and exchange it became that still resonates to the day.

As is the nature of the series, also T.n.I. is already looking forward to performing again once their paths cross.

#1 The first (duo) collaboration in the T.n.[X]. series: T.n.T.: Unaffected by Ordinary Friction on 24/10/2021 with Thalia Laric / Attic Studio, Amsterdam

Thalia Laric and T. Veneranta, a.k.a. T.n.T., originally met at Katie Duck’s Music Theatre Improvisation workshop in 2019. Both of them have an ongoing research and practice of real-time multidisciplinary performance. They have a mutual respect towards each other’s work, and eventually T. invited Thalia to further develop their collaboration in movement and text, utilising the various performance skills and art modalities they have gained during their practices. Styles like Skinner Release Technique, Contact Improvisation, Butoh, and folkloric dances, in addition to generating and performing text, can be seen in their works. Furthermore, they are both experienced in massage therapy, which has an impact on the way they dance and move together.

The main soundscape is text (mostly in English and in Finnish) and ambient sounds of the space, but recorded music is also used sparingly. Thalia usually drops in a song too.

The duo is looking to perform again once their paths cross, after a well-received premiere in 2021, under the title of ‘Unaffected by Ordinary Friction’. Left-over material from other rehearsals and projects get a new life at T.n.T. The core element is the interplay between movement composition, text, objects, and costumes. Consequently, new material is being created…!

The explosiveness of T.n.T. might not be of obvious type but can be found at the turning points of every-day thoughts and situations warping into curious shapes. One of the main points of research in this duo is to give time for scenes and stories to develop rather than trying to fill in the blanks immediately. Shifts between seriousness and playfulness keep the performers alert to each other’s proposals. You can expect humour and tenderness in movement and words, conveying stories of forgotten thoughts.
