Improvisation and real-time composition are an inherent part of my work. Improvisation challenges you every time, and certainly does not get easier with multiple disciplines being situated simultaneously. Composing in real time requires alertness, wakefulness, listening, tracking, and constant updating of what is at hand. How do you create space for the piece to happen? By taking your space instead of negotiating space, things can shift – but also by creating space by exiting the situation you might compose something very wonderful. In a multidisciplinary performance the different disciplines are clearly separate, whereas in interdisciplinary context the performers shift between media. Most of my works are interdisciplinary, combining movement and text.

My most meaningful teachers and collaborators in this practice are Maria Ramos, Katie Duck, Julyen Hamilton, Maria Mavridou, Lily Kiara, Jonathan Nagel, Antti Uimonen, Astarti Athanasiadou, Manuela Lucia Tessi, James Hewitt, Erik van de Wijdeven – amongst other beautiful colleagues and artists, with whom I practice regularly at Sunday Sessions at OT301 in Amsterdam in addition to regular workshops and trainings. You can drop me a message if you would like to join the sessions too! See the future, past and bio for more specifics, and the images below for impressions.
